The annual Carrot Harvest Day happens Saturday, December 14th!
This event is always a wonderful close to the garden year, and a time when the friends and families of GrassRoots gather together to enjoy some friendly competition, good food, and connection.
The event starts at 10:30 for mingling and selecting the best carrot pulling spot. At 11am sharp, everyone starts harvesting carrots, and searching for the biggest, longest and most unique. As the judges judge the entries, we’ll enjoy delicious carrot-ginger soup, carrot cake, and hot chocolate as we review what we’ve accomplished in the year.
All winners receive sweet carrot related prizes! It’s fun for the whole family. If it sounds like the best thing to do on a Saturday, contact the garden at gardens@foodforlanecounty.org and volunteer.
